The Secret to Human-Sounding AI Content šŸ¤–

The quick fix to stop your content from screaming ā€œbot wrote thisā€...

In partnership with

Hello and welcome back to B2B šŸ‘‹

In the last bonus drop, we showed you how to transform your content into a viral LinkedIn post. Here's the link in case you missed it.

This week, we’re tackling a different challenge: making AI-generated content actually feel human.

AI can save serious time, but run your draft through ChatGPT or Claude, and it often reads a little… robotic. Overused phrases, dramatic flourishes, choppy rhythm - the facts might be solid, but the voice gives it away.

After months of testing, our team built a simple, copy/paste checklist that kills the most common AI tics before they ever appear.

Discover the measurable impacts of AI agents for customer support

How Did Papaya Slash Support Costs Without Adding Headcount?

When Papaya saw support tickets surge, they faced a tough choice: hire more agents or risk slower service. Instead, they found a third option—one that scaled their support without scaling their team.

The secret? An AI-powered support agent from Maven AGI that started resolving customer inquiries on day one.

With Maven AGI, Papaya now handles 90% of inquiries automatically - cutting costs in half while improving response times and customer satisfaction. No more rigid decision trees. No more endless manual upkeep. Just fast, accurate answers at scale.

The best part? Their human team is free to focus on the complex, high-value issues that matter most.

The Humanising Checklist āœ…

The em-dash (—) isn’t the only thing getting a bad rap lately. LLMs (Large Language Models) also have their own set of sneaky habits, including certain phrases, rhetorical quirks, and narrative patterns that keep popping up in content.

After spending a lot of time spotting these little annoyances, our team put together a checklist we can attach to any content prompt to cut down on them in first drafts.

Here’s our ongoing list. Feel free to copy, paste, and use it in your own prompts:

AI Writing Detox

Write in a clear, direct, and engaging style. Avoid filler, fluff, or gimmicky language. Focus on precise, meaningful phrasing that communicates your ideas effectively. Keep sentences concise, avoid repetition, and make every word count:

Rhetorical fluff:

  • "It's not just [X], it's [Y]."

  • "The best part? …"

  • "The secret? …"

  • "Sounds impossible? It's not."

  • "What if I told you…"

  • "Here's the thing…"

  • "Let's be honest…"

  • "The truth is…"

  • "At the end of the day…"

Fake-dramatic staccato lines:

  • "No fluff. No filler. Just results."

  • "Big ideas. Small words. Maximum impact."

  • "Simple. Clear. Effective."

  • "Stop guessing. Start winning."

ClichƩ openings to skip:

  • "In the ever-evolving world of…"

  • "In today's fast-paced…"

  • "Gone are the days when…"

  • "This underscores…"

Other traps to avoid:

  • Corporate buzzwords and jargon.

  • Bullet points or lists unless specifically requested.

  • Overstuffed sentences with unnecessary adverbs.

  • Repeated conjunctions like ā€œFurthermoreā€ or ā€œHowever.ā€

  • Decorative formatting, emojis, or boldface.

  • Summaries like ā€œIn conclusion.ā€

  • Overusing em-dashes for dramatic effect.

  • Choppy, over-engineered sentence structure.

Instead, aim for:

  • Clear, concise, and natural phrasing.

  • A rhythm that feels human, not forced.

  • Confident, readable sentences that flow naturally.

  • Clarity and simplicity over cleverness or showiness.

Put It to Work šŸš€

So, the next time you’re using Claude, ChatGPT, or any AI for content creation, attach this checklist to the end of your prompt.

It should significantly reduce the repetitive phrases, filler, and other AI tics that often appear in first drafts, making your content clearer and more polished. šŸ‘

Give it a try and see how much smoother your drafts feel.

If you notice any AI habits that aren’t included on the list, just hit reply and let me know. I’ll add them to my checklist and feature them in next week’s edition so everyone can benefit.

Try it out for yourself, experiment with it, and let me know what kind of results you get!

P.S. Notice any AI quirks that aren’t covered here? Reply and let me know - I’ll add them to my master list and share updates in the next edition. Experiment with it yourself, and watch your AI content start reading like it came from a human pro.
